We are excited to introduce you to our new partners from the CUNY Urban Food Policy Institute as they join us to present their ongoing research on regional food equity planning! The overarching goal of this project is to create common ground and a framework for the development of a shared regional long-term policy agenda that advances equity through food policy and practice. As part of their presentation, the CUNY team, in partnership with the East End Food Institute, will share insights and findings from a jointly developed food planning process piloted in the East End of Long Island (see their recent April 2021 report "Negotiating Conflict and Consensus Toward a Shared Food Future: Growing, Selling, Buying, and Eating Food on the East End of Long Island”). The presentation will be followed by a discussion about possible next steps for the project and the ways in which the process can be applied to our food system in a way that benefits the needs of all who grow, distribute, serve, and eat food in the Hudson Valley.
We look forward to a robust, interactive discussion about the state of the Hudson Valley food system!
